RE: MESSAGE OF APPRECIATION AND FAREWELL
I Godfrey Kalema hereby send my sincere greetings and best wishes to you in this Christmas festivities.
On 261 September 2010 I arrived at Dublin Airport and I was received by Moya Curan, a Dominican sister from All Hallows College, a very lovely lady who drove me to the Dominican sisters' convent in Cabra where I stayed for Three months. On 31st December 2010 Archbishop Diarmuid appointed me to Queen of Peace Parish as a Parish chaplain for Four months; and on 31st April 2011, to Holy Redeemer Parish for my final placement.
During my stay in Bray, I have worked among many people and I feel very proud of you Msgr. Enda, the Parish office and you the faithful for the love and hospitality you accorded me. I am very grateful to you for your collaborative efforts that have profoundly made my pastoral ministry and stay in Ireland a success. May God reward you in abundance.
I am delighted to inform you that on 26th October 2011,1 was conferred a degree of Master of Arts in Leadership and Pastoral Care in All Hallows college. This degree I would not have achieved if you had not offered me the free accommodation. I hail you for that. I feel contented that the knowledge I have acquired will augment my Pastoral ministry in St. Edward's Bukuumi, Mixed Boarding Secondary School, Hoima Diocese, where my Bishop has reappointed me. The school accommodates over 600 students and is located in a rural area-off the town by 45 Kms. I look forward to resuming my pastoral duties.
On 2" January 2012, I will have my flight back to my country. I thank you for your love, kindness and hospitality. I promise to continue praying for you and our Archdiocese especially during these difficult times when our Catholic church is being swamped by crises.
In case I have hurt anyone by my personality and character, please forgive me. Otherwise I cannot recall any occasions when I was offended by anyone of you.
I wish you a Merry Christmas and prosperous New Year 2012, Yours in Christ Jesus,
Fr. Godfrey Kalema (Hoima Catholic Diocese, Uganda).
Child safeguarding and protection policy
New diocesan policy and guidelines for child safeguarding and protection were launched on Tuesday 7th June at a meeting, which was addressed by Archbishop Diarmuid Martin, in the Villa Pacis in Queen of Peace parish. The policy states: Every role in parish potentially involves some level of contact with children so “irrespective of the degree of contact, the Diocese requires all who are employed, or who engage in volunteer ministry or works of service for the Christian community in Diocesan offices, Diocesan agencies or parishes to undergo Garda Vetting as an expression of our common commitment to safeguarding children.” This applies to everyone who volunteers in any capacity...those involved directly with children and all others, for example...Ministers of Eucharist and Word, choir members, coffee dock helpers, flower arrangers, twinning team, prayer group leaders, legion of Mary members etc. etc. etc. If you help in the parish and have not been garda vetted already please fill in the form which is available in the Sacristy or on the parish office and return to Fr Enda as a matter of urgency.
Child Protection Statement and Garda VettingCopies of our Child Protection Statement are available at the doors of the church. All those who volunteer in Holy Redeemer are asked to take a copy and also to fill in a garda vetting form (available in sacristy) if you have not already done so. Our Child Protection policy is available by clicking here and a copy can be viewed in the Parish Office or in the Sacristy.
